Laurence Houseman was an eminent
writer and illustrator. He was born in
Bromsgrove, England in the year 1865 and
died in the year 1959. He had six other
siblings among whom A. E. Houseman and
Clemence were great writers. Laurence
himself had his early schooling in
Bromsgrove itself. Thereafter he studied
art at the Lambeth School of Art and the
Royal College of Art in London and
became a renowned illustrator. He was a
prolific writer, having produced around
100 books. Moreover, as an illustrator, his
mettle was recognized and appreciated by
all. Many great contemporaries of his
solicited him for illustrations for their
books. Laurence was a socialist, pacifist.
