Extension of Winter Vacations in Jammu Division’s Summer Zone
The Directorate of School Education, Jammu and Kashmir, has issued Order No. 22-DSEJ of 2024, dated 06-01-2024, extending the winter vacations for Government and Private recognized schools in the Summer Zones of Jammu Division. This decision is based on the prevailing extreme cold weather conditions, considering the well-being of students.
The initial order (No.1354-DSEJ of 2023, dated: 18-12-2023) mandated winter vacations, and this extension stretches the break until 12-01-2024. While students enjoy the prolonged holiday, the teaching staff is expected to resume duties from 08-01-2024. Notably, Heads of Institutions (HOIs) are directed to organize online classes for students in grades 10th to 12th during this extended period.
The Directorate emphasizes the importance of adhering to these instructions, warning that any laxity from Government or Private Schools will be viewed seriously and dealt with according to rules. This demonstrates the commitment to both the safety of students and the continuity of education through online platforms, showcasing the flexibility of educational institutions in adapting to challenging weather conditions.
