Spread of Hand, foot and mouth disease in schools, Govt issues advisory

Srinagar, Sept 30: Chief Education Officer (CEO) Srinagar has issued an advisory in view of spread of Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease in Schools.

According to an advisory issued by CEO Srinagar, a copy of which lies with The Asian News Hub, reads cases of Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease have been reported in some schools of district Srinagar. In order, to prevent spread of the disease any further, Heads of all the schools are hereby directed to adopt following measures with immediate effect:

Parents be advised not to send their wards to school with the following symptoms: Fever, Sores in Mouth, Skin rash, Sore throat, small red spots and blisters.

2) Children with above symptoms be isolated for 5-7 days post onset of the symptoms to prevent spread infection to other children or adults.

3) Educate School children about the signs, symptoms and preventive measures.

4) Maintain hygiene in and around classrooms and ensure wearing of mask and use of sanitizers by all students and teachers. Classrooms if required, be periodically sanitized.

Heads of all the educational institutes are advised to follow the above directions to prevent spread of the disease among children, reads the advisory.
