Dr. C N Aswath Narayan, Minister of Higher Education, Electronics, IT-BT, S&T and Skill Development on Tuesday launched the program [email protected] ([email protected]) with the target of providing five lakh jobs by the year 2026 to women with the necessary employable skills.

The event was organised by Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM) in association with KTECH and Karnataka Skill Development Corporation to celebrate Women’s Day. In this event, the minister launched the new initiative that was also held as part of the Karnataka digital economy mission programme.

Notable individuals like Ashwin D Gowda, MD, Karnataka State Skills Development Corporation, KDEM Chairman B V Naidu, CEO Sanjeev Gupta, and Ramkumar Narayanan of VMware among others were present in this event.

More women in the workforce will help India’s GDP

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Aswath Narayan said women who will be given training in specialized skills will become employable in the next five years which is going to go a long way in contributing to India’s GDP growth.

How will the [email protected] program help women? 

Dr. Narayan said as part of the [email protected] programme, free certificate courses will be organised for women to get them trained in technical skills in various disciplines. He stated at the present moment women constitute 35% of the total workforce and the programme has the target to raise women’s workforce strength to 50%.

The minister also said many efforts are being taken to provide women 5,000 jobs as part of Karnataka Digital Economy Mission. The government is keen on accomplishing this mission as soon as possible.
