10th Class Exams : JKBOSE Sets Minimum Age Limit

Srinagar, Mar 20: The government has said that it will not allow any student to appear in the upcoming annual regular board examinations 10th standard if the candidate was found
to be less than 14 years of age. In an official communiqué, Director Academics for Jammu & Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE), Farooq Ahmad Peer said, “No candidate of less than 13 plus years of age as on 1st of November and 1st of May preceding the year in which they have to appear in the secondary school examination. The candidates shall now be eligible for registration in 9th class. Peer said that the decision was taken by the Board of Governors in the meeting held in February 2022.

it is notified for information of all the concerned that the relaxation in age limit upto 6 months prescribed for appearing in class 10 exams which was being given to the students is hereby revoked,” Peer said. He further notified that henceforth only such students who attain the age of 14 years plus on 1 November in case of Kashmir division and winter zone areas of Jammu Division, UT of Ladakh and May-01 in case of Summer Zone areas of Jammu Division shall be eligible for appearing in secondary school examination. Peer said that the notification shall be effective from the annual regular examination 2023 in case of Kashmir division, winter zone areas of Jammu Division, UT of the Ladakh and Annual Regular exams of 2024 in case of Summer Zone areas of Jammu division and onwards.
