S.O 214.- In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (3) of Section 43 of the Police Act, 1983, the Government hereby makes the following amendments in the Jammu and Kashmir Police Rules, 1960, which shall have effect notwithstanding anything inconsistent in the Jammu and Kashmir Police Rules, 1960:
Rule 172. For sub-rule (2), substitute “(2) all appointments to non-gazetted ranks by direct recruitment
shall be made by the appointing authority on consideration of recommendations of the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (SSB).” Provided that in respect of the posts for which process of selection has already been initiated on the date of issuance of this notification, the appointments shall be made on the recommendations of the Departmental Recruitment Board(s). After sub-rule (4), insert: (5) The seniority list of Sub-Inspectors appointed after issuance of this notification against any direct recruitment posts in the Executive and the Armed wing of the Police Department, shall be combined, and maintained as per the applicable rules.
Rule 174.- After sub-rule (1), insert:
“(IA) All the vacancies of Sub-Inspectors to be filled up by direct recruitment in the direct quota shall be referred to the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board, in terms of SRO 166 dated 14.06.2005,” Rule 175.-For Rule 175, substitute 175. Application for direct appointments (1) Direct appointments to the non-gazetted ranks shall be made at the beginning of a year, so that, appointments may be completed at least
