Whereas, it has been observed that a large number of local tourist are thronging Pahalgam tourist destination especially on the weekends; and Whereas heavy influx of tourists poses danger of resurgence of Covid-19 pandemic in view of possible violation of covid appropriate behavior, and
Whereas Sub-Divisional Magistrate has also reported that unrestricted and and unabated influx of tourists and day picnickers to Pahalgam may seriously undermine Covid 19 mitigation efforts put in place by the administration.
Whereas, it has been also observed that a large number of tourists are pitching tents in an unregulated manner at a number of places in the meadows of Pahalgam tourist resort, there by posing plausible danger to fragile eco-system of the tourist place.
Whereas in order to prevent the spread of covid-19 infection and save the eco system of the tourist destination, it is necessary to take some immediate measures. Therefore, in view of the above circumstances, I, Dr Piyush Singla, IAS, District
Magistrate Anantnag, in exercise of powers conferred in me under section 144 of the Cr.PC 1973, Disaster Managent Act, 2005 and Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 hereby order as follows;
1. On Saturday and Sunday, only such persons / tourists shall be allowed to proceed towards Pahalgam who possess a proof of confirmed booking in the hotels of Pahalgam, no day-picnickers shall be allowed to visit Pahalgam on Saturday and Sunday. SDPO Aishmuqam/ Srigufwara shall establish nakas at Aishmuqam, Langanbal, Nunwan and Srigufwara so as to allow only bonafide people with proof of advance hotel booking to move towards Pahalgam. CEO, Tourism Development Authority, Pahalgam shall sensitize the hoteliers in advance in this regard. SSP Anantnag shall workout the modalities for restraining the influx of traffic at various Nakas in Anantnag town enroute to Pahalgam so that unnecessary build up of vehicles at Pahalgam can be discouraged.
2. Tehsildar Pahalgam and Assistant Director, Tourism Pahalgam shall carry out detailed inspection of all the hotels of Pahalgam to check whether all measures for ensuring covid appropriate behaviour have been put in place. A detailed report in this regard shall be sent to the undersigned within one week. are
3. CEO, PDA shall conduct awareness programme for all the hoteliers so that they sensitized to adopt covid appropriate behaviour.
